Main objectives

The partners assumed the achievement of the following goals through the implementation of the project:

  1. increasing awareness and capacity of adult education institutions’ staff about digital safety and its implications for inclusivity in learning & training,
  2. equipping educators with the competencies to impart digital skills while emphasizing the importance of digital safety of learners,
  3. educate vulnerable adult groups about their digital rights, safety practices, and how to protect their digital footprint to increase their confidence to engage in educational digital-based activities.

Target groups of the project

  1. staff of adult education institutions in leadership positions will obtain a practical practices and action plans for General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) compliance, digital safety & inclusivity,
  2. adult education educators will be trained on data privacy measures and their integration into their teaching,
  3. adult learners gain twofold; their data during online learning activities receives enhanced protection, and they’re educated on the nuances of data privacy.

Implementation/Main Project activities:

BRIDGE studies the challenges of educators, learners and institutions in adult education in digital learning and provides guidelines to achieve institutional changes that enhance and prioritize data privacy and digital safety of learners to increase the take-up of education. Then it provides a MOOC on digital privacy and safety with three learning tracks, one for each of the three target groups. And finally, it provides a mentorship program as guidance service to help institutions and actors.

Project Results:

With the tangible results of the Organisational Change Guide, the Gamified MOOC, and the Mentorship program, the main outcome following the DigComp is an increase in “confident, critical and responsible use of, and engagement with, digital technologies for learning, at work, and for participation in society”. Altogether, the BRIDGE increases the take-up of life-long and life-wide learning opportunities by leveraging digital technologies to increase outreach and the engagement of adult learners.
